             My name is Kate Conrad and I'll be blogging about my
new approach to losing weight. This time around, my weight loss will have
nothing to do with counting calories or long hours on the treadmill.
Been there, done that! I will be looking at my excess weight as a part of
who I am now but not the person I will be in the future.

What makes this time so different? I will be working with Woody McMahon
of Sequoia Health a
nd Fitness who has 26 years of experience in helping
people like me succeed at permanently losing weight.

Woody has convinced me that there is a right and wrong way to lose weight.
Not right and wrong as in a value judgment but working with, rather than
against the way my body really functions. This time around I want to do it
the right way, the healthy way. I want to end the struggle and fix my food
and weight challenge for good. My goal is to make this the last time I ever
have to walk over the weight loss bridge.

Each week I'll be writing about my weight loss journey, my experience
working with Woody as well as any personal insights and tidbits that come-up
during the week. By writing my blog, I will be helping myself make a
physical and mental transformation. By you reading it, I hope you will be
helped in the process too.

Just to let you know, I've struggled with my weight since third grade,
when I wanted to do everything my big brothers did, which included
eating super-sized double cheeseburger value meals–not such a great
idea! My relationship with food is both healthy and unhealthy.

I love to try new and different foods and cook (when I have time).
However, I also eat mindlessly when I'm tired, stressed, sad, etc.
I've tried many diets in the past. Some have worked for a period of time
but the weight always came back. Most of my life, the main reason I have
wanted
to lose weight was for appearance.

Today I'm not so consumed by weight loss or appearance but more with
my overall health and well-being. So even though weight loss is part of
what I'll be writing about, I hope that other aspects of my life will be
interesting and insightful for you. As much as I enjoy writing, I also enjoy
the writing's of others who can express a thought or feeling better than I.

So, when appropriate, I plan to end my post with a quote that has impacted
me in some way. You'll find me smiling or laughing most days and the ones
that I'm not, I read this:
